The discovery of a man bound and beaten in the West Lawn neighborhood led police to 170 pounds of cocaine and 50 pounds of marijuana in his home blocks away, according to police.
The 33-year-old man, Margarito Raygoza, also known as Jose Corona, was found by Chicago Lawn District police near 65th Street and Springfield Avenue about 7:50 a.m. Thursday. Neighbors called 911 to report the man on the ground.
Raygoza told police he had been walking near 64th Street and Pulaski Avenue when someone kidnapped him and beat him.
Chicago Lawn District police found out where he lived and went to his home. It’s not clear how police discovered the narcotics but once they realized what they had found, they notified supervisors and the police department’s narcotics division and secured the apartment.
