Darrell Young, 23, of the 5200 block of South Seeley Avenue, faces criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual assault charges for the attacks, one of which involved a 61-year-old victim.
Young knocked on the door of the elderly woman’s apartment in the 600 block of East 69th Street on the evening of July 5, Assistant State’s Attorney Amanda Pillsbury said Sunday at Cook County Bond Court.
The woman knew Young because she sang at his brother’s funeral, Pillsbury said, and she let him in.
Young allegedly grabbed her by the neck and sexually assaulted her, according to Pillsbury.
Later that evening, Young allegedly met his second victim at a convenience store, Pillsbury said.
He invited the 22-year-old woman and her friend back to an acquaintance’s apartment in the same building where the prior assault took place, according to Pillsbury.
Young separated the victim’s friend and his acquaintance and led the victim down a flight of stairs, Pillsbury said.
With her walking in front of him, he grabbed her by the neck and forced her to the ground, Pillsbury said.
He tried to remove her pants but they were too tight, Pillsbury said, so Young ordered the woman to remove them.
Young sexually assaulted the woman, then took her purse and cellphone and left her in the stairwell, according to Pillsbury.
Both victims positively identified Young, Pillsbury said.
He was arrested Saturday, according to court records.
