A dozen people were shot, one of them fatally, across the city in a 10-hour period starting Monday evening, authorities said.
The violence started with an Uptown shooting that injured five people about 5:57 p.m. in the 4500 block of North Sheridan Road and continued through a fatal shooting in a West Englewood parking lot this morning.
In the West Englewood shooting, a man believed to be his 20s was killed at 4:06 a.m. in a restaurant parking lot near the intersection of 62nd Street and South Ashland Avenue, police said, citing preliminary information. The Cook County medical examiner's office confirmed it has been notified of the death.
Police did not immediately release other details about the killing.
