A Cook County Sheriff’s correctional officer was ordered held in lieu of $30,000 bond Tuesday for allegedly trying to bring a 9mm bullet and dozens of pills into Cook County Jail over the weekend.
Candice M. Grube previously had been suspected of sneaking contraband into the jail and was under investigation when she was arrested at the facility’s security gate Sunday, Assistant State’s Attorney Lorraine Scaduto told Judge James Brown.
Grube allegedly had the ammunition in her pants pockets and 450 pharmaceutical pills in a backpack.
Grube, who appeared in court in a white T-shirt and what appeared to be her navy blue sheriff’s uniform pants, was charged with bringing contraband into a penal institution and official misconduct.
