A southern California teacher who reportedly offered sex as a "prize" has been charged with 16 felonies involving five underage boys.
Summer Hansen, 31, was a special education teacher at Centennial High School in Corona, Calif., when she allegedly had inappropriate relations with the minors in her classroom, a school utility room, her parked vehicle and a victim's home in the year ending last May, the Riverside County District Attorney's Office said.
The charges filed Tuesday include unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, unlawful oral copulation with a minor and sending harmful matter to a minor, prosecutors said.
If convicted, she faces up to 13 years in state prison.
Hansen was arrested June 20 and posted bail.
She allegedly propositioned one student using suggestive text messages, a search warrant affidavit prepared by Corona police and obtained the Press Enterprise in Riverside stated.
According to the affidavit, Hansen started by asking the student what he wanted as a "prize" for his performance in a baseball game.
She reportedly ended the exchange saying she wanted to have sex with the student.
She also sent the 17-year-old student photos of her in her underwear and naked on a tanning bed, the Press Enterprise reported.
The student, identified as John Doe No. 1, later reported engaging in a sex act with Hansen during a Saturday detention session where students normally received discipline or caught up on missed work, the paper said.
The affidavit stated that two other students told Doe No. 1 that they also had sex with Hansen.
Hansen is set to be arraigned Thursday.
Her lawyer told the Press Enterprise in July that the teacher now on administrative leave denies any wrongdoing.
Lawyer David Cohn said it appeared her phone had been hacked because some of Hansen's friends, neighbors and relatives also received suggestive texts.
