As previously reported on August 2, 2013, the Department released BOP #13-0020.10 and 13-0020.11 on Tuesday, July 30, 2013. These orders referenced over seven hundred Officers who will be required to participate in a "validation testing session". These same Officers will be evaluated by a supervisor. An inquiry was sent to the Management and Labor Affairs Section to clarify what these orders actually mean as the Lodge was unable to answer many of the questions posed by our members.
The Lodge has finally received a response from the Department. Please see the response packetfor complete information. The response packet includes a confidentiality agreement that participating Officers are expected to sign. Officers should read the confideniality agreement prior to signing it. Any Officer who refuses to sign the confidentiality agreement will not be allowed to participate in the process.
55+ Healthcare Update
Any member between the ages of 55 and 59 who is planning to retire in 2014, while taking advantage of the premium-free healthcare benefit, must submit an electronic PAR form by October 1, 2013.
At least one hundred (100) eligible applicants must apply by October 1, 2013 for this benefit to take effect. The Lodge has been notified that only thirty-five (35) eligible applicants have applied to retire in 2014 thus far. We still need sixty-five (65) Officers to apply.
The Lodge receives many calls from potential retirees who are concerned about whether the minimum number of one-hundred applications will be met. Officers, if you plan on retiring in 2014 submit your applications now. You will keep yourselves, and your fellow Officers, from worrying about whether we will reach the minimum number required.
